Right: Sumida-Gawa river cruise, Asakusa, Tokyo.

Having spent a decade living in Taiwan a visit to Tokyo was perhaps well overdue. With Japan making a return to the International Rugby Sevens calendar and ticket prices soaring for the Hong Kong event, our group considered Tokyo to be a suitable alternative and it didn't disappoint.

Following a highly entertaining visit in March of 2012 we returned in 2013.

Left: Mickey and Minnie at Disneysea, Tokyo.

A handful of our group had decided they wanted to visit Disneysea in Tokyo. I figured I might as well tag along as I'm unlikely to take such an opportunity again. I must say however I found the experience somewhat disappointing. Massed throngs of people and long lines. A couple of the rides I went on were pretty exciting but most were booked out pretty quickly and quite frankly you can get similar for much less money and smaller queues elsewhere.
